Lets talk about siphonophores
As part of the exhibition Siphonophora by Thomas Glassford

 

In direct reference to siphonophores, planktonic organism colonial and marine, whose peculiar morphology is ambivalent between the animal and the plant, the artist Thomas Glassford presents a sculptural body that recalls the former use of the Museo Universitario del Chopo architecture, when it was the National history museum period (1913-1963).

 

To refer to siphonophores, especially those species that live in Mexico, specialist i the field Rebeca Gasca, will give a talk.

Dra. Rebeca A. Gasca Serrano. Degree in Biology, Master in Science and Doctor of Science in Biology. She has written several texts on marine zooplankton: 70 refereed articles; 26 book chapters; 12 items of disclosure; two books; five reports of extensive congress, relating to marine zooplankton. She worked at the Laboratory of Invertebrates of the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM (1985-1987); and the Research Center of Quintana Roo (1987-1995). Since 1995 is a researcher at the Colegio de la Frontera Sur, Unit Chetumal. She participated in several oceanographic cruises for the exploration of marine zooplankton, both shallow water and deep sea, invited by NOAA, Texas A & M University; Monterey Bay Aquarium Research and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution. Its a memeber of the National System of Researchers since 1990.
